Mokae Beauty was born of the love, care, and deep knowledge of celebrated makeup artist Sandhya Shekar, and photographer Vikas Vasudev. Created as a space that empowers both one’s inward journey and outward expression — ours is a new culture of holistic beauty that aims to connect people to their ‘self’ and ‘source’. A path that keeps the Indian experience of beauty and well-being at its core.

When it comes to our products, we believe less is more. Our effective, clean, and safe formulations have been tested over two years across every skin type and tone. We’ve created high-performance products that are easy-to-use, and allow for a sense of playfulness. They’re designed to encourage experimentation and expression.

When I entered the world of beauty as a makeup artist in 2009, I had no idea where it might lead me. I was coming out of a career in finance and all I knew was I wanted to do something that felt more aligned with who I was. I grew up in Mangalore — where tropical slow living began to inform the core of my being, and I discovered that I was deeply drawn to colour.

Fast forward 15 years and here I am; ready to combine my personal and professional experiences with beauty and well-being, and connect them all in a single universe.

Mokae Beauty was born from my genuine explorations to feel and look my best; Healthy, beautiful, loved, and full of love. It’s the kind of space I always sought out for myself, and when I found it didn’t quite exist, I knew I had to create it.

After years of hunting for premium homegrown makeup brands, and only finding subpar options, I knew I needed to create clean, safe and high-performance products designed for Indian skin. I hope our products show you just how easy, effective, and empowering makeup can and could be.

I hope it shows you that beauty is for everyone.

My deepest hope, however, is that you also discover new rituals, practices, and experiences here which make you feel more whole on the inside too, because that’s when this culture will truly feel complete.

I’m on this journey with you every step of the way, and I promise to remain true to what I set out to do. My hope? That Mokae Beauty may truly be a beacon for holistic beauty in this world.

I’ve always been fascinated by how stories shape culture and connect people. Photography became a medium to explore this curiosity, leading to a career spanning over 15 years, collaborating with some of the world’s most iconic brands and celebrated personalities. These experiences deepened my understanding of creativity and storytelling.

When we started Mokae, we wanted to create something deeply personal—a brand that felt like home for people like us. We envisioned a space where self-expression and authenticity could thrive, with premium products crafted specifically for Indian skin.

Whether it’s savoring a quiet coffee with a good book, finding peace in meditation, or getting lost in a great movie, I’ve always believed in the small rituals that make life meaningful. With Mokae, we aim to bring that same sense of ease and connection into everyday moments of self-care and empowerment.
